July 25, 2016

Hey Family!

This week was a good week. We were able to meet with G-- quite a few
times with helping him to progress towards baptism and he is getting
really close. It was frustrating because we had a ride for him to come
to church but we had miscommunication and the ride never showed up so
G-- wasn't able to come.  He was pretty disappointed but he understood
and he's doing fine-- he's working on a few things but we're working with
him, especially with the word of wisdom, but he's doing great!

So I talked about E-- last week a little bit, and the hold up
with her baptism was because of her husband. He's not really a
fan of the church and now she will not be baptized at least for a
little while more until she gets the ok from her husband or her
husband's heart gets softened, but we are praying for that so hopefully
it will come soon. We didn't meet with L-- this week, she's been
very busy with work and preparing to go out to Utah and she will be
leaving this week and we are really excited for her, we didn't teach her
all of the new member lessons--we left a few for the missionaries back
in Utah so that she can get familiar with the people of the church
there and have the missionaries help her a lot, so we know that she
will be fellowshipped.

One thing this week that Elder Washburn and I thought was cool was we
made it a big goal to get 20 lessons this week from investigators, and
members and we were able to reach that and we had some really
spiritual lessons.  The members in the Wolfboro branch are really
strong and they have a lot of really cool viewpoints on the gospel, as
well as our investigators, so it's been a lot of fun with teaching this
week and we have made a goal to teach even more this next week and we
hope that that can happen so that we can continue to learn as well.

We picked up 3 new investigators this week, one named J-- and he
came to church this week, D-- she was a referral from a member,
which is actually kind of funny because the member that referred her
to us graduated from lone Peak is well. And Elder Washburn and I were
walking around Main Street the other day and we ran into a guy that
owns a bookstore that is pretty much just a hole in the wall, and we
went in and taught him a lesson. We are getting him a Book of
Mormon and he has had a lot of exposure to the church and it's really
been an uplifting experience for him so we are excited to start
teaching him as well.

One thing that has been on my mind a lot lately that is something we
as missionaries get a lot. I'm not sure how it is in other missions
but the apostasy is something that is very questioned. So I've been
studying it a lot lately. It has strengthened my testimony to
understand the basics, like studying it from preach my gospel, but
going a little more in depth has been really interesting to me and has
really strengthened my testimony as well. It definitely shows the
corruption of man and the step by step progress that the Lord worked
to prepare the restored gospel to come to the earth. I want to
challenge you all to study the apostasy! You don't have any excuse not
to, because almost all of you have an iPad or iPhone or some sort of
tablet so you can pull up preach my gospel, and chapter 40 of Jesus
the Christ. It's really important to know, especially if you run into
Catholics who have questions about the church! I know that it's kind
of an interesting commitment to study a time period like the apostasy
but it will strengthen your testimony I promise. And it's a blessing
that we have the restored gospel in our lifetime for sure, and to be
able to piece the puzzle together a little bit of how and why it
happened.  It's really interesting!

Love you, fam!  Have a good week!

That's really cool the Harveys met up with you! The Harveys are
awesome haha sister Harvey loves the missionaries. And I'm glad you
like the ties! The flower one is for Jared btw. Just sayin. It's fun,
after planning we will start on some ties. Members give us cool fabric
too! I can't believe the building burned down!!!  That
is super unfortunate. What's the next step? Also that's cool Lindsey
and Dallin are in town! Sounds like a good week.

We had a good week! This week we picked up a new investigator, her
name is D-- and she was a referral from a member and we had a
dinner with her and then a lesson and it went really well. She's very
interested in the message that we have to share, she's going through a
lot, but the kindness and love from the members is really catching her
attention so it's really cool to be able to start her progression in
the church! She actually was the one that asked to meet the
missionaries; she said she was really impressed that we set aside two
years of our life to do this for our beliefs! A lot of people are, but
it's cool she's actually interested! Haha.

G-- is the same ha he's so close and yet so far. We only met with him
once this week I think, but we had a good lesson. He just needs to
evaluate his priorities a little more. He's great though we love him.
He's going through a lot too. But he's hanging in there.

E-- is doing very well, she's trying to establish a baptismal
date but her husband is not a supporter. It's such a shame. We are
praying his heart will be softened but she told us today nothing has
changed. So if you could pray for her that would be cool! P.S. L--
is not yet in Utah, a couple more weeks and she will be. But I can ask
her! That would be cool.

We had interviews with President and an exchange with the Plymouth
elders so we were up in their area helping out ha so not a ton
happened this week but it's been cool.

We ran into Mitt a few times this week. He is a really nice guy! But
if you are talking during Elders' Quorum he will call you out and tell
you to answer the question that was just asked or he will tell you to
be quiet. He doesn't mess around! I love this area, hopefully I can
squeeze in another transfer and make it 7 1/2 months here! Who knows.
President hinted at it a little but I doubt it. Dad you should wear
the tie to church. And mom I could make you a ribbon or
something--idk lol I doubt I could, but I could try!

Love you, fam! Have a good week! I'm so grateful to be a missionary in
such a good mission. I love this mission. From what I've heard from my
friends and other people my mission seems very different, but it's so
much fun. The people here are pretty tough but I love them so much.
And I know for a fact that I know I've been called here by God, and
I'm so grateful I chose this and not BYU Hawaii. It's one of the best
decisions I have ever made, if not the best. I just wanted to let you
know how much I love it here!

Love you

July 11, 2016

Hey Fam!

I got all the letters! Thanks. They are all really cool! It sounds
like you all had a good week too! St George and the hunting club.
Always a good time. And when Lindsey and Dallin get into town tell
them I said hi.

This week was a really good week! We taught quite a few less active
and recent convert lessons. Our other recent convert E-- (baptized like
8 months ago) we met with him a few times this week finishing his new
member lessons. He only has one more! And I've taught him every one.
I've been in Wolfeboro for so long haha E-- is a funny guy. He was an
alcoholic for a really long time and he cut cold turkey when he joined
the church and the alcohol has taken a toll on his brain--he's a little slower
learning-wise but now that it's been a while since he's drunk
any alcohol his mind is coming back a little. Testimony of the word of
wisdom! And L-- will be moving out to Utah at the end of this
month so we have been trying to get in all of her new member lessons
before she goes, but she is doing great!

We finally met with E--! And we had a great lesson. She is so
ready for baptism, but of course the path for investigators that want
to be baptized always gets sooo bumpy before the day comes, so now the
hold up for E-- is her husband doesn't want her to. So she has
to get his permission before. So that's in the process right now! But
she's looking at the end of this month to be baptized. If she gets
his permission! So pray she does!

The really cool part of this week was our new mission president,
President Blaire, came for a day in Wolfeboro and we worked with him
going and teaching and finding. It was really cool! Apparently he
picked our area just by a random draw, so it was fun. He's amazing. He
worked for Nestle for a really long time and then he went and started
his own chocolate company, Bissengers....I had never heard of it but
dang it's so good. But ya we had a really good day with him. While we
were with him we found a new potential investigator and her name is
J-- and she's great. So it was a busy day.

We met with G-- and had a lesson with him, and we also met with N--
and O--. We are spending a lot of time finding right now. It's so
humid here, I'm grateful for Utah's heat. It's way better when it's
not sticky.

Mitt Romney was at church. I chatted with him for a while about Alpine
and how he knows the Mikas (Eric), and he's a really nice guy. I tried
to get a picture with him after church but he scrambled out of there
sooo fast so I couldn't. Church is so much fun every week now. A
church family makes such a difference. That's one of the biggest
reasons why I've been so blessed to serve here. They are so tight-knit,
they work really hard, they help us as much as they can, and they are
almost all converts so their testimonies are super strong. Not that
people in Utah don't, but these people didn't grow up in it so it's a
different kind of grateful. Hopefully no one gets offended at that,
but yaaaaa kaayyyyy.

Love you fam have a good week!

PS I got 3 different reminders about obedience this week in letters......I don't
know if that's just a friendly reminder, but even if it was I still
want to let you know I am as exactly obedient as I can be. It means a
lot to me to be obedient, and that's why I feel like I've been so
blessed on my mission! I definitely have a testimony of it. And I'm
grateful for the reminders.

Love you all!

Hey fam!

We went to the parade, but Mitt didn't come, his family did!  But not
him. Bummed. But he should be here next week. Orrin Hatch was there
this week! Which was weird, because he had like 10 body guards and
secret servicemen with him. I thought it was unnecessary but hey, who
knows! There might have been a murderer somewhere. The parade was
cool! We went with Dick and Nancy Marriott. Nancy was comedy, there
was a big Trump portion of the parade and they really don't like Trump
at all, and Nancy turns to us and says "Dick will get a kick out of
this" and she runs out there waving her American flag with a bunch of
people voting for Trump in the middle of the parade. She's crazy.

And Mom, I think dad made the right decision by having you bear your
testimony next time hahaha I would have loved to hear it though. I'm
glad you had fun at the camping trip! Looks pretty!

The pain under my ribs is still there, but I don't notice it as often.
Probably because the doctor said it's probably not something to worry
about too much so I don't really think of it. But I'm fine!

E-- has a super unique illness with her stomach. And it's really
been hitting her this week and we weren't able to meet with her even
ONCE. It was crazy. I feel bad for her, hopefully we can get a lesson
with her soon. Because she's ready! The only thing is her sickness,
which is a big thing but if you could keep her in your prayers that
would be really cool!

This week was a good week. We met with G-- a lot again, and we have
almost taught him everything! He's borderline though. He's a good guy,
but he just needs a little more time, we are guessing. The gospel is
helping him a lot, but he's one of those guys that it will probably
take him a while to get baptized.

N-- and O-- and doing ok too, they can't read very well because
of eye sight but we got them the tapes of the Book of Mormon and they
have been listening to it. I'll take a picture with them and send it
to you, they are some of my favorite people. Especially O--.

Church was insane yesterday! There were about 320 people there. There
are usually about 50. And the summer people are really cool! It was
good to see a little change of scenery, I felt like it was a Utah
sacrament meeting! A lot of people. Some people we met yesterday was,
like I said earlier, Orrin Hatch, and then the CEO of Black and Decker
Brother Archibald, there were 2 quorum of the 70 members, and the
Romney sons were all there, and then all the Marriotts came too.

Hey Fam!

Man I never thought the day would come that I wasn't in
attendance at the WOW camp. I bet it was sooooooo boring without me
since I'm always the life of the partyπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽŠπŸŽ‰ kayyyyy obviously
joking. Sounds like it was fun! Wasatch is my favorite place.

Man this week was really good. We met with G-- almost every day and
he's doing so much better. He put up a big poster in his bedroom of a
picture of the the Boston temple so he always remembers to do what's
right haha he's funny.

A big miracle we saw was with our past
investigator E--. We just came in contact with her again the
other day and about 3 or 4 months ago I had dropped her, because she
wasn't keeping commitments and since we just got in contact with her
again she is like a different person completely. She is so ready to be
baptized! The Holy Ghost worked so fast on her. She was determined after

she was dropped. So we will besetting a date with her this week for probably
the end of July! We are really excited.

Oh and btw I am staying in Wolfeboro again! I can't believe it haha
but I'm really excited. I love his place soooooo much. I'm with the
same companion, Elder Washburn, too!

Sorry--short email but I love you, I'll write more next week! Have a good week!!
